The transformation of a stretch of Columbia Pike looks like it will continue.
A four to six-story apartment building is in the works for the 2400 block of Columbia Pike, ARLNow reported Friday morning. Located near Penrose Square and UrbanTurf favorite Bob and Edith’s, the building is in the very early planning stages.
From ARLNow:
[2400 Columbia Pike] would replace Rappahannock Coffee, L.A. Nails, the former Saah Furniture and other businesses in three low-rise retail buildings on the block. At minimum, the facades from two of the buildings (2338-2344 Columbia Pike and 2406-2408 Columbia Pike) will be preserved and incorporated into the new building.
ARLNow writes that developer B.M. Smith and Associates is still just in very preliminary talks with the county about the project. The plan for 2400 Columbia Pike follows in the footsteps of Penrose Square, a mixed-use development across the street constructed in the past few years that helped transform this stretch of Columbia Pike.
