DC’s priciest zip codes are only getting pricier in 2014, according to new data from RealEstate Business Intelligence (RBI).
When comparing the first six months of price appreciation in 2014 to the same period in 2013, the data show that prices are unsurprisingly highest in the District’s toniest neighborhoods. The zip code of 20015, encompassing Friendship Heights and Chevy Chase DC, came in at the top of the pack, with a median sales price of $974,000 in 2014, an 18 percent or $154,000 increase over 2013. Next up was 20007, where sales prices this year sat at $950,000. That zip includes the neighborhoods of Georgetown and Burleith.
The following three DC zip codes showed incredible price growth between 2013 and 2014:
- Median sales prices in 20016 rose 29.2 percent between 2013 and 2014, from $590,000 to $762,500.
- Prices also rose by the same percentage in 20005, where prices increased from $441,000 to $569,900.
- In 20037, where prices per square foot are some of the highest in the city, prices rose from $425,000 to $532,500.
