A Converted Church in Rappahannock County

Although this 18th century church-turned-house is closer to West Virginia than it is to DC, the property was too interesting to pass up. The "Battle Run Primitive Baptist Church" sign introduces the gravel driveway up to the house, which sits on 1.44 acres and was converted by designer Daniel J. Moore in the past year. Past its almost monastic exterior, the interior is sleek, with ebony-stained trim and ceiling beams in the foyer. The open living/dining room has 17 foot-tall ceilings and the kitchen is fitted beneath the stairs, with cabinets, the island base, the fridge cladding, and the backsplash is composed of contrasting custom salvaged barn wood blocks.
