Plans have changed again for the future of the Georgetown Post Office.
Georgetown Metropolitan reported this morning that at the ANC 2E meeting last night, it was announced that the Georgetown Post Office will become a nine-unit condo project. Last year, developer Eastbanc had received “conditional approval” from the Old Georgetown Board to move ahead with converting the post office to an office building, but according to Georgetown Metropolitan, the DC Office of Planning did not want the property used as commercial space.
So it now appears that the building is back to being a residential project. We have reached out to Eastbanc representatives for any specs/renderings of the project.
Update: UrbanTurf spoke with Eastbanc representatives yesterday who said that they will have more details regarding the new project in about two weeks. Once we have information, we will do a follow-up post.
