This Valentine’s weekend the Capitol Riverfront will host an art and music event to showcase the neighborhood and new developments within it. Called Luck of the Draw, the event is being organized by Artomatic, The Pink Line Project, and The Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District.
Velocity Condominium, Axiom at Capitol Yards, and Onyx on First will convert units, lounges, courtyards, and parking lots into art and music venues. Photography, installation art, graffiti artists, live music, and DJs are on the roster for the three-day event. All three developments are located within two blocks of the Navy Yard Metro station.
Capitol Riverfront will play host to 2009’s Artomatic, so this weekend’s event will offer a glimpse of what’s to come later in the year. Artomatic, the annual event featuring local DC artists, grows every year and has come to serve not only as a venue to showcase local artistic talent, but also to showcase the neighborhood or building hosting the event. Last year’s Artomatic was in NoMA and saw over 50,000 visitors with 1,540 participating artists.
The locations for this weekend’s Luck of the Draw are:- The Velocity entertainment tent on Half Street between L St and K St SE
- Axiom at Capitol Yards at 100 I (Eye) St SE
- Onyx on First at 1100 First St SE
- Friday, February 13th from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- Saturday, February 14th from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- Sunday, February 15th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
If you haven’t yet checked out the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood, this looks like the perfect opportunity. UrbanTurf will be there!
