The way it works is that renters go to the site and look for an apartment. Once a unit is chosen, a calculator estimates how much one can earn from listing the unit on Airbnb. Landlords that partner with Airbnb get a share of the revenue from the sublets, as well as access to a dashboard that shows which apartments have a guest.
"Over a three month period, renters who hosted in Airbnb-friendly apartment buildings included in the marketplace hosted on average nine nights per month and earned on average $900 per month," Airbnb stated in a press release.
The company has partnered with 175 buildings around the U.S., including apartments in Silver Spring, Alexandria and Arlington.
