This installment of Above Asking revisits two recent inclusions to a What X Buys features for a $740,000 budget — and one strayed much farther from budget than the other.

A $15,000 Premium for a Converted Laundry Loft

This 1,200 square-foot unit on the top floor of Mount Vernon Square's old Yale Steam Laundry building sold for $15,000 above asking while staying pretty close to the What X budget parameters. The open-concept interior has brick walls, a series of oversized windows, exposed conduits, a tall painted beam ceiling, and a custom wood wall unit that creates both a minimalist media center in the living area and a base in the kitchen. The open sleeping area is also anchored by the wall console, and the unit  has a den with built-in shelving and desk space, and includes two parking spaces.
