This week's installment of Above Asking revisits three recently-featured, seven-figure listings which each sold for more than listing price.

$99,000 for Books on the Wall

This shelving-filled Friendship Heights four-bedroom sold for just shy of six figures above listing price recently. The interior is well-suited for a book-lover, with shelving surrounding the entryway to the living room and creating rows to peruse in the loft-like top level of the house, where a series of built-in shelving units are wedged beneath a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and between an archtop window and a skylit office nook. The house also has generous outdoor space, including a spacious rear brick patio and an angular wrap-around porch that leads to an octagonal screened-in porch which creates a balcony for the owner's bedroom above.

3,500 Square Feet $55,000 Above Asking

This four-story, four-bedroom Tudor in Cathedral Heights enjoys south-facing exposure and two roof decks just off a skylit suite with a wet bar. The living room has a wide bay window and a white fireplace with restored mantle, and on the other side of a set of paned french doors, the dining room and sitting room share a coffered ceiling. The kitchen beyond features a Carrera marble waterfall breakfast bar island with wine fridge and adjacent butler's pantry. The lower level is a one-bedroom in-law suite with a galley kitchen, fireplace, and access to a pebble-covered patio beneath a partially-covered deck. Paved paths wind through the backyard, which also has several seating areas. The whole package fetched $55,000 above asking.

A $55,000 Above Asking Double-Take

Also selling for $55,000 above asking price, this corner rowhouse in the Burleith neighborhood is ripe for entertaining. The family room has a fireplace between two sets of french doors, which lead to a flagstone patio, and is also open to the kitchen, which has a concealed hood, a farmhouse sink and a huge breakfast bar island. A built-in bench transforms a bay window into a breakfast nook, and the kitchen also has easy access to a butler's pantry with a wine rack and convection oven. Off the skylit upstairs landing, three bedrooms enjoy double exposure, two of which incorporate built-in shelving units. The lower level rec room also has a built-in shelving unit, an office nook, and a full bath with built-ins.
