A new beer garden has been pitched to activate a long dormant hotel site along Georgetown's main drag, UrbanTurf has learned.
Villa Services, a DC real estate developer, is pitching a 300+ seat beer garden at 3000 M Street NW (map). The address is the site of a planned 256-room hotel from Thor Equities that is currently on hold.
"For far too long the space at 3000 M St NW has been neglected and been an eyesore in our otherwise historic and beautiful neighborhood," Villa Services said in a statement to DC's Historic Preservation Office. "We have been in talks with Thor Equities for over a year now to activate this site."
The beer garden would sit along M Street in front of the site of the former Latham hotel. Beer, wine and sprits as well as mock cocktails would be served, and food trucks would be on-site from time to time. Movies would also occasionally be screened on one of the existing property walls on-site. Hours of operation would be determined by the Advisory Neighborhood Commission, the Citizens Association of Georgetown and the operators.
The new beer garden, designed by Citadel Architects, would join Sandlot Northwest as another outdoor activation of a dormant development site in Georgetown.
