677 Square Feet: How Far $375,000 Goes in the DC Housing Market

A couple weeks ago, UrbanTurf reported that per square foot prices in DC are as high as $832 in certain sections of the city. Now, a study shows that, when looking citywide, a small budget still doesn't go a long way.

According to new data from RealtyHop, $375,000 can afford a buyer only 677 square feet worth of lodging in DC. That works out to a citywide per square foot price of $554.

Among the largest cities, only in San Jose (513 square feet), Boston (512 square feet), Manhattan (432 square feet), San Francisco (374 square feet) and does that budget buy even less. Meanwhile, $375,000 can buy as much as 2,268 square feet in San Antonio.

To create this report, RealtyHop analyzed home price data taken from over 1.5 million for-sale listings between Jan 2023 and March 2023. Listings included residential single-family homes, condos, co-ops, and townhouses actively on the market.
