50-Unit Rhode Island Avenue Development To Head To BZA In May

A large new residential development planned for Rhode Island Avenue NE will go before DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment in May. 

July Residential filed plans with DC for a four-story, 50-unit apartment building at 2001 Rhode Island Avenue NE (map) last November. The site, essentially where the Brookland and Langdon neighborhoods meet, will also include ground-floor retail. 

The Bonstra-Haresign designed project will consist of one- and two-bedroom units, with 10% set aside as inclusionary zoning. The property at the address will be razed to make way for the new development. July Residential is looking for special exception relief from DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) from the site's parking requirement and rear yard requirements.
