337-Unit Development Pitched For Former DC Bowling Alley Files For Design Review
Three months after receiving approval from DC's Historic Preservation Review Board, the residential conversion at a former bowling alley in DC has filed for design review with the city.
The proposal for Brookland Lanes, a large residential development constructed around the site of a former bowling alley at 3726 10th Street NE (map) in Brookland has filed for voluntary design review with DC's Zoning Commission.

The UIP-led project, designed by ktgy, will have 337 apartments, as well as a pool and an outdoor amenity space on the roof of the existing historical building. The development also includes a new public retail plaza at the corner of 10th Street NE and Michigan Avenue NE.

The duckpin bowling alley at 3726 10th Street NE was in operation from 1939 to about 1950 when a fire severely damaged the building. The property was most recently occupied by the Atlantic Electric Supply Co.
