$25 Million McLean Estate Becomes One of Virginia's Priciest Homes
Add another home to the growing number of Virginia listings carrying an 8-figure price tag.
A seven-bedroom home along the banks of the Potomac River hit the market over the weekend for $25 million with Mark Lowham and Phyllis Patterson of TTR Sotheby's International Realty. The news of the sale was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The loftiness of the listing price has much more to do with the land rather than the home itself. From The Journal:
The seven-bedroom house hasn’t been renovated since the 1970s, Lowham said, and the new owners will likely build a new home or remodel the existing one. Most lots along the river in McLean sell for upwards of $20 million, he said, and last year, he sold an empty lot nearby for around $23 million.
The listing sits on four acres and has roughly 215 feet of frontage along the river. It is a few miles away from the Castle on the Potomac, a home that UrbanTurf reported hit the market for $22 million in early August.
