240-Unit, 17-Story Development Proposed For Jewelry Exchange Site in Bethesda
Big residential plans are in the works for the former Jewelry Exchange building in Bethesda.
Stonebridge has filed plans with Montgomery County to construct a new building with up to 240 apartments at 7749 Old Georgetown Road (map). The Bethesda-based developer purchased the property, formerly home to the Jewelry Exchange, in late 2022 for $3.6 million.

The plans call for a building that could be up to 175 feet tall with 6,000 square feet of retail and up to 150 structured parking spaces.
The project, designed by sk+i architectural design group, will begin the Montgomery County review process this month. If all goes according to schedule, the development could break ground in early 2026.
