A rendering of the new project.
A 21-unit residential project is on the boards for the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Georgia Avenue in Petworth.
Developer Rooney Properties and PGN Architects are working on a development that will be located at 3701 New Hampshire Avenue NW (map), across the street from the neighborhood Metro station. The site is the former location of Sweet Mango Cafe.
The 65-foot, five-story residential development will have one and two-bedroom residential units on floors two through five and there will be retail on the ground floor.
The development team is asking the Board of Zoning Adjustment for a variance from the 13 required parking spaces on the site, and has a fairly good case given the development’s proximity to public transit.
