Madison Investments, the developers responsible for the popular condo conversion 1020 Monroe, will be creating an 18-unit apartment building at 2914 Sherman Ave NW (map).
Located on the border of Columbia Heights and Pleasant Plains, the project will contain mostly two-bedrooms filled with luxury finishes, managing partner Barry Madani tells UrbanTurf. They are seeking approval to add an additional story to the existing building; once all approvals are in, construction should start in 6 to 8 months.
Sherman Avenue is currently undergoing a massive streetscape makeover that will make it more pedestrian-friendly, well-lit and tree-lined.
That part of town is going through a mini development boom right now. We recently reported on a slew of new residential projects going up in Columbia Heights and Pleasant Plains, including a 20-unit apartment building at the corner of Spring Road NW and 14th Street NW, a 31-unit building at the corner of Georgia Avenue NW and Kenyon Street NW, and a 5-unit condo conversion at 1300 Park Road NW.
