Two-Bedroom in Columbia Heights Condo Conversion

As HipchickinDC reported, the row house at 1480 Harvard Street NW sold for $700,000 last year, when it was in rough shape. Hipchick correctly assumed that a developer has scooped up the property; the home is now a condo conversion with four units. This condo takes up the top two levels of the building, and the developer made some stylish choices, putting in oversized windows, a shower for two, and a large rooftop deck. The window in the shower of the second bathroom, however, may deter shy buyers.

H Street Corridor Rowhouse With a Finished Carriage House

While this H Street Corridor Victorian is charming in its own right, the coolest thing about it is in the backyard: a two-story, finished carriage house. The first floor of the structure has everything needed for day-to-day life — a hearth-like fireplace, a basic kitchen, a bathroom, and a bedroom area — while the upstairs is peaceful and blank, and could be used as an office, studio or TV-watching room. Interesting features of the main house include a window seat in the kitchen, and a pond with fish in the backyard.

  • Full Listing: 816 I Street NE (map)
  • Price: $699,900
  • Bedrooms: Five
  • Bathrooms: 2.5
  • Year Built: 1920
  • Listing Agent: Brent Jackson, TTR Sotheby’s International Realty

Bethesda Cape Cod with Wood Paneling

This four-bedroom Cape Cod is on the market for the first time in years, and has been well maintained by a longtime owner. Some elements of the home have a retro appeal, like the upstairs bedroom completely outfitted with wood paneling. We also liked the large backyard, which has several different zones, like a brick patio, a sitting area with stone benches and stepping stones, and a grassy lawn.

  • Full Listing: 9303 Jesup Lane, Bethesda, MD (map)
  • Price: $700,000

  • Listing Agent: Melinda Estridge, Long and Foster Real Estate
