In What X Buys You this week, UrbanTurf takes a look at properties on the market priced between $627,000 and $660,000 to give readers an idea of what type of homes are available in this price point in the DC area.
Glass Walls and Interesting Skylights on Park Road
The price increase of almost $200,000 since this property last sold in 2009 makes us think that the Columbia Heights condo has seen some improvements over the last four years. It certainly looks stylish, with short glass walls around the staircase, recessed lighting, a cathedral ceiling where several skylights have been cut out. The extra square footage also allows for an office area near the bedroom. Still with all its attributes, the 50 percent price increase in four years may be a little ambitious.

A Cottage in Kensington
As the photo above reveals, this Maryland home has an adorable, cottage-like facade. On the inside, however, it is larger and more substantial that the exterior indicates, with an over-sized shower plus a soaking tub in the master bathroom, a big kitchen, and several extra rooms on an unexpected lower level. From the back view, you can see how this is possible: the home is on a slope, allowing for a basement level isn’t entirely underground.

H Street Victorian with a Top Chef Kitchen
For a skinny row house, this listing north of H Street NE has a very nice kitchen; the range on a rectangular island means that there is ample counter space against either wall. The back of the home looks like it has been extended, and now has a cozy den between the kitchen and backyard with a second story deck above it.
Update: This home went under contract late Tuesday.
