This week in What X Rents You, UrbanTurf looked in the $2,800 a month range and found a variety of choices for prospective renters in the DC area with this monthly budget.

Two-Bedroom Loft at the Carberry School in Capitol Hill
This two-bedroom loft-esque apartment is located in the Carbery School just north of Stanton Park in Capitol Hill. The school was built in the late 1880s and converted to 43 residential units about a century later. The apartment has 12-foot ceilings, a washer/dryer, hardwood floors and comes with a parking space. The ad says that the ideal move-in date is November 1st, but that it could be moved up if need be.

Two-Bedroom Apartment With Private Patio in Dupont Circle
Located in The Shelby on T Street in Dupont Circle, this renovated garden-level two-bedroom is one of the few units in the building with a private patio. The apartment has a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a dishwasher, and there is an in-unit washer/dryer. The Shelby allows pets, and in an interesting twist, the unit is leasing for $2,831/month (unfurnished) or for an additional $120 a month, it can come fully furnished.

- Rent: $2,831 a month

Dollar Stretching: A Three-Bedroom Colonial in Silver Spring
This three-level home is evidence that rent goes a little further the farther one gets from downtown DC. The colonial has a main level with a living room (and a fireplace), a dining room and a kitchen, and three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor. There is a rec room on the lower level, and off the rear deck is a fairly large yard. It is about a 20-minute walk to the Silver Spring Metro on the Red Line — not around the corner, but also probably not a deal-breaker to most renters.
- Full Listing: 603 Bonifant Street, Silver Spring, MD (map)
- Rent: $2,800 a month
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: Two
