A green roof off Swann Street NW
Many UrbanTurf readers have inquired about ways to learn more about creating a green roof on their home. DC Greenworks is now providing a way to do that.
Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) will be running a series of three-day “boot camps” throughout the country to prepare those interested in learning more about creating green roofs. DC’s boot camp, which is run in partnership with DC Greenworks, begins next Thursday. Topics to be covered include the design and installation of various types of green roofs on new and older buildings, waterproofing and drainage, and plant physiology and soil science.
Interested potential roofers can attend any of the three days individually, or sign up to complete the entire course which, according to Executive Director of DC Greenworks Peter Ensign, should prepare them to take the Green Roof Professional exam and become a Green Roof Professional (GRP).
