Taylor Gourmet Co-Founder’s Penn Quarter Home

Was it the vinyl wallpaper, the hand-made steel trim, or the prospect of eating free sandwiches for five years? Whatever the lure, the one-bedroom condo owned by Casey Patten, co-founder of Taylor Gourmet, went under contract in about four days. Patten’s condo has a stylish interior, revamped with the help of Grupo7 Architecture + Interiors. Perhaps best of all is the large, private terrace.

Four Stories and a Double-Height Ceiling

Last week, we featured this sizable, four-story Victorian as This Week’s Find. While DC’s housing market has been moving quickly in recent times, usually luxury real estate at this price point takes a while to find the right buyer. However, this home went under contract in just 5 days. The residence stands apart from its neighbors due to a particularly open feel: a 1970s renovation knocked out a few walls and floors, and created a second story atrium that looks down on the living room.

  • Price: $2.981 million

Glover Park Rowhouse With a Glassy Renovation

From the front, this Glover Park rowhouse looks just a bit atypical, with a few extra windows. From the back, however, the home is strikingly modern. The rear walls are largely made up of windows, and a second story floor has been removed on one side of the house to create a sitting room with a double-height ceiling and one very tall wall of glass. The room opens up to a back deck. Someone must have liked all the sun and glass: the home found a buyer in 6 days.

  • Price: $815,000

The One-Bedroom House on the Hill

Like a few of its neighbors, this one-bedroom house was built in the 19th century to house workers who needed small, cheap housing. At some point, it also served as a storefront. Now, someone will using it as their home: the property went under contract about a month after entering the market. The new owner will enjoy a deep living room with a fireplace and one feature that sets it apart from similarly sized condos: a huge backyard.
