More low-density development is planned for Trinidad.
Claggion Real Estate, the owner of the laundromat at the corner of Montello Avenue and Simms Place NE, is applying for relief in order to add two stories and a penthouse to the existing building and retrofit the project into seven residential units.
The development at 1723 Montello Avenue NE (map) would require relief from lot occupancy and rear yard requirements, as well as a special exception to omit the single parking space required. The site is on the cusp of Ivy City, as well as a few blocks from Gallaudet University.
The one- and two-bedroom units would range from 456 to 492 square feet and will also include an inclusionary zoning unit. The walk-up building will also have a roof deck. A zoning hearing has not yet been scheduled.
