This Week's Find: The Best View in Georgetown

This Week’s Find has earned a long list of awards and praise, from institutions and publications like the American Institute of Architects, Washingtonian, and Builder Magazine. And all the praise is deserved: a 1999 renovation turned the Georgetown home into a window-filled modern gem with perhaps the best views of the Potomac River in DC.
Perhaps the two most dramatic areas in the Prospect Street house, re-imagined by architect Mark McInturff, are the “view room” and the master bedroom. The view room, in the photo above, has a two-story-high ceiling and one wall made entirely of glass. Shading mechanisms keep the room from getting too sunny without disrupting views of the river, Key Bridge and Rosslyn.
The master bedroom has even more impressive scenery; glass walls on three sides provide for 180 degree views. For those worried about feeling like they are living in a greenhouse, the layout is such that the bed appears to be out of direct sunlight, and there are electric drop-down shades. The master suite takes up an entire floor of the home, with a kitchenette, media room, jacuzzi tub and steam shower filling the space.
Other view maximizers include a roof deck (with a mini fridge and hot tub) and a lower level porch. A closer inspection of the desk in the home office reveals what looks to be an Oscar, but alas, the listing agent told UrbanTurf that this was a mock gift given to the owner.
