The Residences at St. Monica’s
For just over 100 years, St. Monica’s, a church on Capitol Hill, served congregations of varying sizes and denominations until 2009 when the congregations of St. Monica’s and St. James merged and St. Monica’s was deconsecrated.

The project has since been redeveloped into a nine-unit project by Community Three Development, and a few of the new residences recently hit the market.
This two-bedroom sits on three floors; the top level consists of a master bedroom, the main level has a 24-foot-by-12-foot kitchen/living/dining area, and the lower level has a second, larger bedroom and leads out to a private yard. The cool thing about a number of the residences at The Residences at St. Monica’s is that the developer incorporated the 14-foot vaulted ceilings, stained glass and timber columns from the property’s life as a church into some of the floorplans. The project also has common storage areas and a bicycle room.
St. Monica’s has already been transformed, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still other churches on the Hill that could be re-purposed.
