This Week's Find: The Warehouse Loft

DC is filled with a variety of property types, but loft residences are few and far between. This Week’s Find is about as close as one will find to a true version of a loft in the city.
The penthouse sits on the top floor of the Lofts at Adams Morgan, a Champlain Street warehouse that developer PN Hoffman converted into a residential building in 2002. The current owners were drawn to the loft’s industrial characteristics (cement ceilings, exposed piping)as well as the light bamboo flooring, factory-style windows, and white-painted structural elements. One of UrbanTurf’s favorite features was the “skybridge” that leads to a tucked away, lofted office area.

The listing’s spacious scale — it has very high ceilings and 3,200 square feet of living space — makes it an antidote to urban claustrophobia; there is enough room to stretch out and run around…and mingle with hundreds of politicos. The property has been the setting for several political fundraisers, including two presidential events.

In addition to the space inside, the condo comes with a 1,900-square-foot wraparound terrace. Right now, the owners have the space set up with several sitting areas, dozens of tall potted plants and a dining area.
