The Newseum Residences were built in conjunction with the two-and-a-half year-old museum that bears the same name at the corner of 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. It goes without saying that the residences cater to news junkies, but even those with a casual interest in current events will be kept up to date living here: The Newseum changes their outdoor newspaper display daily, and the lobby of the Newseum Residences has TVs that are regularly tuned to 24-hour news channels.

The Scoop

Centered halfway between The White House and The Capitol and across the street from the National Gallery of Art, the Newseum Residences are made for tenants that want/need to be downtown most of the time.

The complex has 135 apartments (studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms) all of which are currently occupied. The studios start at 440 square feet, the one-bedroom units begin at 731 square feet, and the two-bedroom apartments come with the option of a terrace and start at 1,211 square-feet.

Most of the studio and one-bedroom apartments have a foyer that leads directly into a gallery-style kitchen. Large windows help highlight the impressive views and some of the units come with sliding glass doors in both the living room and bedroom that open to a balcony. All of the bathrooms have floor to ceiling ceramic tile. Many of the larger units have two bathrooms, one with an oversized soaking tub and one with a shower. All the units include a washing machine and dryer.

The services at the Newseum Residences cater to residents constantly on the go or those who spend the majority of time at work. There is a concierge, personal trainers are available in the building’s fitness center, and coffee is served every morning in the clubroom, along with a daily selection of newspapers.

Building amenities also include a business center, resident lounge with televisions, and a rooftop garden terrace. And of course, passes are regularly made available to residents to visit the Newseum.

Residents pay a one-time $400 amenity fee as well as a $500 refundable security deposit. Assigned underground parking is available for $250 per month per car.
