The $1 million studio.
DC home buyers, whenever you start thinking that real estate prices in this town are getting a bit high, take solace in the fact that we are not in New York City’s orbit yet.
A new listing reinforces this statement: A studio has come on the market on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for just over $1 million.
The 532 square-foot unit on 76th Street (map) was recently listed by Brown Harris Stevens for $1.075 million, which works out to just over $2,000 a square foot.
Despite its size, the unit is high-end across the board with Miele, Viking and Subzero appliances, grey stone flooring, a Nest thermostat and herringbone oak wood floors. The building also offers a slew of amenities and services, including a doorman and concierge service, a billiards room, a rooftop sundeck, and a parking garage.
But the monthly payments will make you realize that you are dealing with the New York City real estate market. Even with a 20 percent down payment, payments would run approximately $5,500. Add to that the $645 monthly fee and this studio is yours for about $6,000 a month.
