The Survey That Will Help Shape DC

Over a year ago, the DC Council held a marathon hearing in which more than 250 people signed up to testify about whether and how the Comprehensive (Comp) Plan, a high-level guideline for how and where the city should develop, should be amended. As the city's residents, stakeholders and developers anticipate when the debate will resume, the Office of Planning (OP) is initiating an unconventional campaign to solicit public opinion: by seeking responses to a series of value-concepts.
Yesterday, OP launched "DC2ME", a campaign to convey the city's values to the public and an accompanying survey responding to those values.

A press release states that the values, which stem from years of community input on DC residents' priorities, are accessibility, diversity, equity, livability, opportunity, prosperity, resilience, and safety. OP will use the feedback garnered during this campaign to determine how to approach amending the Comp Plan.
“Through the DC2ME website and survey, we are asking residents do these values align with yours?” OP director, Andrew Trueblood, said in a statement. “We are seeking to re-engage the public about the big picture and the most important concepts in the Comp Plan to ensure we produce an amended Comp Plan that represents all DC residents.”
The public can respond to the survey through June 30th. There is also a bill pending in DC Council regarding granting additional weight to Advisory Neighborhood Commissions in the Comp Plan process.
