The Chevy Chase Lake development in Montgomery County may host the area's largest Amazon Fresh grocery store.

Robert Dyer reports that a 46,270 square-foot Amazon Fresh will anchor some of the development retail. The location will use Amazon's "Just Walk Out" technology; a recently-delivered Amazon grocer in Friendship Heights uses Dash Cart, which is slightly different. The site previously housed the Chevy Chase supermarket.

Chevy Chase Lake is a transit-oriented project in the process of delivering near a future Purple Line station southeast of Connecticut Avenue and Manor Road (map). The first phase, helmed by EYA, Bozzuto, and the Chevy Chase Land Company, includes nearly 600 residential units and 87,000 square feet of commercial space; 62 townhouses have already delivered and three multi-family buildings are in the last stretch of construction, including 65 Ritz-Carlton residences.

The Amazon Fresh brand is making its presence know in the DC region. An Amazon Fresh location opened on 14th Street near Logan Circle this summer, another location is rumored to be in the works near Amazon's new headquarters in Crystal City, and a third is in the works for a former Shoppers grocery site in Potomac Yard.
