UrbanTurf usually avoids publishing rankings or lists…except at the end of the year, when we look back at what DC’s residential real estate scene had to offer during the previous 12 months. This week, we revisit some of the best, most intriguing and peculiar things we came across over the course of 2018. Enjoy.

There were a slew of homes to hit the market in DC this year with an interesting design or lovely layouts. But a Georgetown home listed in February had the year's most interesting, or perhaps historical, meeting. 

Built in 1895, the red-brick rowhouse at 3419 Q Street NW was the site of a number of parties over the years. One of those soirées occurred on a fateful night in May 1951 when an iconic couple first made each other's acquaintance.

Homeowners Charles and Martha Bartlett threw a dinner party and invited eight guests -- two of whom were then-Congressman John F. Kennedy and photojournalist Jacqueline Bouvier. The Bartletts ostensibly put the party together for the sole purpose of introducing the pair to each other.

Two years later, JFK and Jackie were married, and eight years after that, Kennedy became president. Although the house doubled in size in 1956 after being combined with the adjacent property, its interior still retains some period details, including restored hardwood floors, a wood-burning fireplace and the cozy brick-paved courtyard where the former first couple had cocktails long ago. 

The home sold not long after hitting the market in February.
