Tonight, Shaw’s newest luxury condominium, Perla, celebrates its Grand Opening with an elegant rooftop party and tours of two new model homes. Here’s a sneak peak at what attendees, and future residents, will enjoy at this sophisticated new property. To RSVP for the event, click here.
Set on the corner of 9th and O Streets in Shaw’s Historic District, Perla is distinguished from other neighborhood buildings by custom textured brick detail and unique wrought iron balcony railings. Inside, an inviting lobby—featuring cove lighting and gold leaf finishes—gives way to designer residences with some of the most stunning city views that Shaw has to offer.
“Perla has the unique advantage of being surrounded by historic properties that are governed by height restrictions,” says McWilliams|Ballard founder Ross McWilliams. “Perla residents will enjoy unobstructed views of Shaw's beautifully tree-lined streets as well as sweeping vistas of the National Cathedral and all of downtown DC's landmark structures.”
Among the residences garnering the most attention at Perla are the one-bedroom units, of which just two remain for sale, and the elegantly-designed penthouses, which are set back from the street and feature huge terraces. Just two of the four penthouses remain on the market, one of which features a living room, kitchen and master bedroom wrapped in ViewGlass—extremely energy-efficient smart windows that change from clear to opaque at the push of a button.
In addition to one bedrooms and penthouses, Perla features oversized one-bedroom and den, two-bedroom and two-bedroom and den residences, all with private outdoor spaces.
Each Perla home impresses with finishes that combine rich materials, layered textures and innovative details. Interiors were designed by Olvia Demetriou and include eight-foot solid walnut entry doors, oversized closets (closet systems from Econize are available), nine-foot ceilings, wide plank oak hardwood flooring and floor-to-ceiling windows outfitted with MechoShades.
The kitchens feature Italian cabinetry, creamy quartz countertops, pantries and chef-inspired appliances from Thermador. Bathrooms feature custom, double vanities adorned with quartz countertops, spacious soaking tubs, expansive frameless glass showers and warm LED lighting to create spa-like atmospheres.
Perla boasts a host of beautifully curated amenity spaces, including the lobby lounge with a fireplace, full-time front desk concierge and transit screens alerting residents to arrival times for Metro, Lyfts and Ubers. On the roof, the building’s Skytop Suite entertaining space is complete with a fire pit, daybeds and ivy-covered trellises that frame spectacular views of the city. Perla has a private garage with electric car charging stations, as well as bike and resident owner storage. The property is also offering residents a complimentary one-year Capitol Bike Share membership.
Perla is located in the heart of Shaw surrounded by open-air eateries, beer gardens, coffee houses and art galleries. It is also within walking distance of everything from grocery stores to fitness centers. Shaw is uniquely positioned between downtown DC (with easy access to City Center and the National Mall) and all of Northwest DC’s most popular neighborhood destinations.
Settlements are expected to start next month. For additional information, visit the property online here; schedule a tour by email at sales@perladc.com; or visit the McWilliams|Ballard Sales Gallery located down the street from Perla at 1485 9th Street NW.
