DC developer SB-Urban has closed on its purchase of the Patterson Mansion for $20 million, The Wall Street Journal reports. TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, the brokerage that represented the sellers, alerted UrbanTurf recently that the sale would be closing this week.
The 1903 mansion will be turned into 90 furnished micro-units measuring about 350 square feet each. The mansion’s first floor, where much of its architectural opulence is on display, will become communal living spaces for the mansion’s residents.
SB-Urban is working with architect Hartman-Cox on the project, which has won over both the local ANCs, the Historic Preservation Review Board and the Board of Zoning Adjustment. The building’s exterior addition will be clad in three types of glass with varying degrees of transluences, and the back of the addition will be clad in a light-colored brick.
SB-Urban bought the 36,470 square foot mansion from the Washington Club, which has dissolved.
