Trader Joe’s would occupy block #9 in the plan for Clarendon Center above.
Arlington blog ArlNow is reporting that Trader Joe’s is in final negotiations to open a 10,000 square-foot store at Clarendon Center (map). The obstacle to this becoming a reality is the issue of reserved parking.
From ArlNow:
“Trader Joe’s has said it will only move to the space if Arlington County amends the Clarendon Center site plan to allow reserved parking spots in the building’s parking garage. As the site plan stands right now, the garage will be open to anybody who wants to park there.”
Anyone who goes to the Foggy Bottom Trader Joe’s and doesn’t live nearby understands the importance of parking when going to the store famous for cheap wine and long lines. ArlNow reports that an amendment to the Clarendon Center site plan is expected to be filed by the end of the week, and then would go before the county board at some point in November.
