The essential business of development continues as the owners of Tenleytown's Dancing Crab filed for raze permits this week.
If razing is approved, the buildings at 4615 Wisconsin Avenue NW (map) and 4611 41st Street NW (map) will be replaced with a seven-story building with 41 apartments above a 2,450 square-foot restaurant. The former Dancing Crab, a restaurant that was once a staple in Tenleytown, was located at 4615 Wisconsin Avenue NW.

The Bonstra|Haresign-designed project will also include 1,754 square feet of penthouse restaurant or bar space. A planned-unit development was approved for the site last year.
The two two-bedroom units in the development will be set aside as permanently-affordable inclusionary zoning units for households earning up to 60 percent AMI, while an additional one-bedroom would be for a household earning up to 50 percent AMI.
Another lifetime stipulation is that the ground-floor space can never house uses including a professional office, a convenience store, a mattress store, chain retail or restaurant, or a bank.
