The Solidago
In the world of green building, LEED Platinum is a fairly difficult label to achieve, but UrbanTurf has learned that a new three-unit condo development in Petworth may be on the verge of getting the highest green building certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and being the first LEED Platinum condo project in the city.

The Solidago is a row house at 4114 New Hampshire Avenue NW that has been a project years in the making from developer Tanya Topolewski of True Turtle. Converted into three two-bedroom units that will officially go on the market this Wednesday, there are a number of elements that were incorporated when building the project to position it for LEED Platinum certification. There are a variety of energy-efficient aspects to the home, too many to name in fact, so we will note a few: spray foam insulation, high-efficiency heating and cooling, original or repurposed doors and floors, and a site design that makes for efficient storm water management.

“The project has gone through a battery of tests and inspections,” Brandon Green, who is representing The Solidago, said of the development. “We will get word in a couple of months if it has been approved as LEED Platinum.”
There is no exact definition of what makes a home LEED Platinum, but it is based on a point system outlined below.

Pricing has yet to be finalized, but the units will start in the $300,000s. There will be an open house this Sunday from 1 to 4pm for the general public. Below is additional information about the project, and we will provide more details as they become available.
