Numerous reports suggest that at least 30 million renters could be in danger of eviction and subsequent homelessness after the moratorium is lifted. According to Princeton University's Eviction Lab, over 200,000 renters have been evicted during the pandemic despite the federal moratorium.
Biden has also proposed that Congress pass an additional $1.9 trillion relief and stimulus package that includes at least $35 billion in housing-related assistance, and has asked Congress to extend foreclosure and eviction protections through September.
