DCmud recently reported that the Constitution Square development in NoMa signed five new retailers that will add some needed services to the growing neighborhood. The retail spaces will be occupied by TD Bank, Potbelly’s, Constitution Café, Tynan Coffee & Tea and Georgetown Valet dry cleaners.

The 2.5 million square-foot mixed-use development already has a Harris Teeter on the way (possible opening date: November 2010), so the addition of these services (all expected to open later this year) means that the area is on its way to becoming DC’s next “neighborhood of the moment.”

DCmud notes that the area is expecting an influx of 5,000 new employees this year and for 750 apartments to come online. A source familiar with the project told UrbanTurf that a 400-unit apartment building on the southern portion of the site will be part of the first phase of residential units, with more to follow.
