The re-design of the Georgetown Canal is already receiving a high level of interest from the public.

Late last fall, the National Park Service, Georgetown Heritage and James Corner Field Operations unveiled renderings and detailed concepts for a planned redevelopment of the mile-long stretch of the C&O Canal that winds through Georgetown.

Shortly thereafter, the National Park Service solicited for public comments and feedback on the plans. Now, we are getting a first hint of how the public feels about the designs.

NPS and Georgetown Heritage are reporting that out of 551 respondents, 85 percent have high interest the design.

Additional renderings are below, but are expected to change as the project evolves.
