TOMU Villas, a DC-area based modular accessory dwelling builder, has released new renderings of its "Japanese and Scandinavian-inspired getaway dwellings" and is opening up tours of a model unit at its Frederick, Maryland facility.
TOMU's line consists of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floorplans that are prefabricated and shipped to buyers. TOMU told UrbanTurf that the majority of buyers so far plan to use the new abodes for either personal leisure use or as a short-term rental. The company has also seen a lot of interest from developers looking to create multi-unit hospitality properties.

"We keep being told by buyers in the market how excited they are for our villas because how much better of an option it is for renting out than anything else they’ve seen,” Chris Osaka, the President and Founder of TOMU, said in a release. “Everyone who’s gotten an early look at our model has been surprised at its actual size and spaciousness compared to what they thought coming in.”
Prices for the studio option start at $99,500. Individual TOMU reservations are available here.
