In GOOD magazine’s March issue, there is a comparison of the mass transit systems in the top five U.S. and foreign cities, based on annual ridership. The absolutely brilliant graphic shows that DC has the second highest number of riders in the country (215 million), well behind NYC (1.5 billion), but ahead of Chicago, Boston and San Francisco.
The article also gives the single ride fares in the five major cities:
Chicago — $2.25
New York — $2
DC — $1.85 (average)
Boston – $1.70
San Francisco — $1.50 (starting fare)
