In a measure aimed at avoiding any cuts in service, the Metro board has approved a 10-cent surcharge on all transit fares. The surcharge will go into effect at the beginning of March and last until the end of June.
Talks of a fare increase have been happening for a few months, so today’s news does not come as much of a surprise. If you are curious about how the change will affect your weekly finances, DCist has a nice chart of the new fares here.
