The Westlight
Today, Eastbanc released renderings of the Westlight Condos, an upscale residential property in West End that also includes a newly-constructed location of the neighborhood public library.

Located at 1111 24th Street NW, Westlight will deliver 71 luxury condominium units, a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedrooms plus dens, ranging from 600 to 3,000 square feet. The building, which is planned to be completed in spring 2017, per a press release, will also incorporate a 21,000 square-foot library and 7,300 square feet of retail space.

An additional attached building at 1110 23rd Street NW (map) will deliver 93 apartments. Enrique Norten of TEN Arquitectos designed the Westlight; the development team also includes Clark Enterprises, Dantes Partners, JBG Companies, The Warrenton Group and L.S. Caldwell & Associates.

In early 2014, an activist effort to stop the project ended when the DC Court of Appeals denied a request from the group, led by Ralph Nader, to stop the development. The decision ended a three-year battle between the DC Library Renaissance Project and Eastbanc.
