Fans of All the President’s Men take note: the sixth floor Watergate office that was famously burglarized by President Nixon’s henchmen is now up for rent. Penzance Cos. bought the Watergate for $76 million a few weeks ago, and has plans to renovate the office suites, but the particularly infamous suite that once housed the Democratic National Headquarters is empty and up for rent, reports The Washington Post.
From the Post:
The office housed the Democratic National Headquarters when it was burglarized in 1972. At the time the office faced a Howard Johnson motel, where a lookout for the burglars rented a room to keep watch. Penzance is planning to renovate the office interiors and is starting with floors nine through 12, which are vacant already.
Reminders of the scandal that brought down Nixon have been numerous this past year; UrbanTurf reported this summer when reporter Bob Woodward’s Watergate-era studio was put up for sale, and recently another studio in the building where he lived was listed for rent.
