3145 Dumbarton Avenue NW
The row house that has been home to Georgetown comic book store Big Planet Comics since 2001 is now up for sale. The listing at 3145 Dumbarton Avenue NW that houses the store hit the market on Monday.
Unlike the H Street listing that we featured a month ago (which has since sold), this row house does not seem like a feasible option (at least at the moment) for a small business entrepreneur who wants to open up a little store downstairs and live upstairs. (For one thing, the property doesn’t have a kitchen at the moment.) That said, the listing is zoned for both residential and commercial use and is fairly ideally located for the business-minded buyer as it sits just off of Wisconsin Avenue not too far north of M Street. Big Planet Comics leases the first and second floors, and there is a loft space on the third floor. There is also a brick patio out back.

Inside Big Planet Comics
As for the future of the Big Planet Comics (which has three other area locations in Bethesda, Vienna and College Park), the store’s lease expires on May 1st and then will go month to month until the listing is purchased.
