Greater Greater Washington has heard from a WMATA employee that Google Transit could be available for Metro train and bus routes as of mid-January. The employee noted that WMATA is “still working with Google to ensure that [WMATA] data is completely accurate before the information is released to the public.”
The arrival of Google Transit in DC has been a hot topic of conversation over the past year as rumors swirled as to when it would launch. There was hope (albeit false) in February when DC Circulator routes were made available in Google Transit. However, those who tested it found bugs and to avoid in any potential bugs in the rollout of Google Transit for WMATA, the department wants to make sure all data is accurate before moving forward.
