New data shows that unemployment in DC is at its lowest level since the late-1980s.

A report out Thursday from DC's Office of Revenue Analysis states that the unemployment rate in the District last fall was 4.6%, the lowest it has been in 34 years. The numbers, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, show a drop from 6.5% in late 2021.

"While the unemployment rate can sometimes be skewed by a lower amount of people looking for work than normal, that would not appear to be the case as the DC employment to population ratio is also at all-time highs," DC's Office of Revenue Analysis stated.

Along with DC, 28 other states hit an all-time low for unemployment in 2022. On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the unemployment rate in the U.S. had fallen to 3.5%.
