The church recently submitted plans to DC for a mixed-use building with 31 apartments and 2,000 square feet of retail space on the surface parking lot at 2026 Jackson Street NE (map). The new project, designed by Square 134 Architects, is subject to the city's IZ+ program, so at least 20% of the units will be affordable apartments.
This is only New Macedonia Baptist Church's most recent foray into residential development in DC. At the end of 2021, the church unveiled plans to convert a building at 3200 22nd Street NE (map) into a nine-unit residential development made up of three-bedroom apartments.
