About 1.5 years ago, DC launched a partnership with the personal finance company Landed to offer homebuying counseling and assistance to public school teachers and staff. Now, eligibility is being expanded to cover all DC government employees.
Today, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) announced expansion of the partnership.
“This expanded partnership with Landed will help us continue to attract and retain the best and brightest to make our city government thrive and ensure that DC continues to be an attractive place to live and work,” Deputy Mayor John Falcicchio said in a statement.

The program provides city employees who are prospective homebuyers up to 15% toward a down payment, up to $120,000. Landed would then receive a portion of the gain (or loss) if the home is sold or refinanced. Thus far, the partnership has helped 25 DCPS teachers and staff-members purchase homes.
The Department of Housing and Community Development also has an Employer Assisted Housing Program to offer first-time homebuying assistance to DC government employees. Another partnership announced earlier this year offers homebuying assistance to DC's Covid-related essential employees.
