612 3rd Street SE exterior
This Week’s Find is an older Capitol Hill home with a newer carriage house that has functioned as one of the city’s most popular bed and breakfasts for over a decade.
The exterior of the carriage house
The original two-story Federal-style coach house was built in 1877, and the current owners constructed the 4,700 square-foot carriage house off the back of the original property in 2002. The homes are separated by a 1,000 square-foot courtyard.
West-facing deck on the carriage house
Since 2004, the carriage house has operated as a licensed bed-and-breakfast, the largest such accommodation on the Hill. All four bedrooms are on the second floor of the house, which has several outdoor patios and decks that offer views of the monuments.
The carriage house eat-in kitchen
Both houses have skylit spiral staircases that traverse all floors. The carriage house also features custom columns and countertops made of reclaimed wood.

The owners are moving out of the area, and this listing is one of two adjacent properties they have on the market. More photos and details are below.
