In this week’s edition of Best New Listings, we look at a few modestly sized houses: a Silver Spring bungalow, a Columbia Heights row house, and a Capitol Hill row house from the 1800’s.

We also liked the sun room, which would be a great reading nook, office, or, in a pinch, extra bedroom. The house is very close to Jesup Blair Park and downtown Silver Spring, and is half a mile from the Metro.

Capitol Row House with History

This is the fanciest of our small homes (and the biggest at 1,336 square feet). Built in 1880, the Federal-style home close to Barrack’s Row has been protected by the Capitol Historic Trust. The first floor has an open living and dining area, large kitchen, and a family room that leads to a back patio. The master bedroom is fairly spacious, with a cathedral ceiling and exposed beams, and the one downside to the house is that the two remaining bedrooms are a bit smaller.
